Spring Break Assignment

I try not to assign any material or task that I feel does not offer meaningful mathematical gains. There are several large ideas explored in this unit that should stay with you as you develop into an insightful and reflective adult. Take this time off to summarize and connect these critical ideas.
Complete the following tasks during this Spring break:
1) Take the UC Berkeley Calculus Diagnostic Exam on a separate piece of paper, you will take 5 mins in class to transfer your selections to a scantron on Monday 4/01/19. You should set aside 5 minutes for each question. Time yourself closely. I'm going to trust that you gave yourself 2hrs exactly for the exam. Do not collaborate with others, do not use any notes or any outside help. We will use this as a way to measure your preparedness for Calculus. A well prepared student should expect to answer a majority of these questions correctly.
Try your best, if you don't feel ready then you should seek out help before June!
2) Take detailed Cornell Notes on the 3 Part UC Irvine Instructional Videos. Answer this 2 part EQ:
Part 1: Review the notes from Friday 03/22/19 and answer:
Why do we know that the output of Sine is the length along the y-axis on the unit circle? Why do we know that the output of Cosine is the length along the x-axis on the unit circle?
Part 2: Review the notes from Friday 03/22/19 and answer:
Why/how does the Pythagorean Theorem create a new set of "identities or mathematical truths." Show how your response from Part 1 helps to build this result.
Part 3: Do the evaluate on Page 346-348 Q:3-22, 51-63, 73-74
