Unit Three

Asymptotic Behavior

Polynomial functions are the basis for many of the fastest growing STEM industries and research areas.  Modeling physical properties in engineering, physics and chemistry often involves creating polynomial approximations and tracking the critical moments of change.

As you continue your career as a scholar in the 21st century, the knowledge-set driving the exploration of polynomials becomes paramount.

Finally as you begin to consider the infinite behavior of data you should be capable of determining any trending conclusions – this is often the central task of economic, ecological, and biological study.  These trending decisions are at the heart of asymptotic behavior.

Use these videos as a chance to reconsider procedural knowledge while reflecting on the conceptual knowledge explored in class.  This should not be the source of your learning - however, it can be a powerful resource.
